Happy 30th Birthday Alisa!

It seems my beloved wife is turning 30 today. This will be her last official Birthday. From here on out she’ll be celebrating anniversaries only – the 3rd anniversary of her 28th birthday is next year, I believe.

Let’s all join in and wish our favorite lady a Happy Birthday!

P.S. For those curious about her gift from me, check out “Belle’s Trip” in the menu at the top – see if you can figure out what’s going on without any narrative.

P.S. Marley Got Her Christmas Wish

All Marley wanted for Christmas was her two front teeth – I think this photo is evidence enough that she’s been a good girl this year.

Marley's first tooth

Ignore the extraneous rice cereal. I took the picture single-handed while feeding her this morning. You can see the looming spoonful on the left. It is the only way to get a look at her mouth without fighting with her prehensile tongue.

The one on the right (her left) is most certainly there as we can feel it. The little white spot to the left of that tooth looks to me like her second one coming in fast. Click the picture for a larger, higher resolution image if you’re not convinced. No doctoring of photos here folks!

Marley Update – We’ve Got Pictures!

Just a quick note that Alisa has been diligently posting pictures of Marley and the rest of the crew (that would be Alisa, Dazy, the rabbits and myself) over the last few months. If you want to see her dressed as a chick (or a duck depending on who you ask) you should check out the Hallowe’en album.

3 months and a trip to the BC Interior
4 months
Rob and Sophie’s wedding
5 months and Thanksgiving
Hallowe’en

The earlier pictures are still available in her album, of course – this is one well documented child.

The ones posted are not the full-sized images, so if you are interested in prints just send us an email or call us and we can send you the original image or something. Whenever a new album is posted Alisa sends out an email to anyone interested, so if you’re not getting these emails anymore and you want to, let us know and we can stick you on “The List“.

OK, proud papa out.

Recent Additions To The Gallery

For those of you keeping score at home, there have been two recent additions to the picture gallery:

We love comments, so feel free to leave ’em (in the photo gallery of course, so we know what picture you’re talking about)!

We All Love Robert Munsch!

I grew up loving Robert Munsch’s story about Jonathan and the subway station in his wall. I’m sure we all have favorites. Now I find that the author and entertainer has made audio versions of many of his books available for free on his website. Download them all and play them for your children – you can’t really go wrong. What a great gesture from a great children’s writer.

On a related note, I had no idea he was a Canadian, and that he based the stories he writes on the children he first tells them to. His story telling style is apparent in the audio recordings, and are quite entertaining as Wikipedia states:

Munsch stories are well known for their juvenile, yet catchy, humour. Parents sometimes criticised them as being rude or obscene. Munsch himself is well known for his manic storytelling methods, with exaggerated expressions and well-acted voices; his performances are always loved by kids, of all ages.

Pictures of Marley’s First Few Days

We’ve finally been able to find a few minutes to put up some pictures of the first few minutes, hours, and days of Marley’s life. Check it out here.

An apology to all of you who have been so patient waiting for these pictures. Who knew that we’d be so awfully busy once Marley got home?!? There are a few more pictures already waiting in the wings (first Mother’s Day, for example) but I figured the salivating masses needed something more than just one little picture, no matter how cute it is.

Feel free to leave comments on the pictures, or here if you’re not too shy.

Welcome to the World, Marley!

Wow … I usually like to take some time to think about what I want to type, but right now the mind races before I finish a sentence. See, that one took almost 3 tries to get it complete.

We’re ecstatic to announce that we have a daughter: Marley James Bridger!

This isn’t the official announcement – I’d expect something in an email format soonish. But for those curious I wanted to throw up a quick picture. Plenty more to come, but here we go…. our new daughter:

Marley James Bridger - click for larger version
Born: Friday, May 5, 2006 at 9:17pm
Measurements: 9lbs, 7.5 ounces and 22 inches long at birth.

I’ll post more images and whatnot once we settle back in at home. This is our first day back from the hospital and we’re just figuring out how things are going to work around here.

The Final Frontier – 39 Weeks Pregnant

Well, it’s hard to believe it but we are now 7 days away from our official due date. I’m not going to state all the cliches like ‘where did the time go‘, and ‘it feels like yesterday that …‘. No, I’ll spare you it all – though it is all true. Don’t you hate it when cliches turn out to be just plain right?

Anyhow, I’ve posted the last picture of Alisa and the baby, taken in April. You can see it at the bottom of the original post of pictures.

We have pretty much finished the nursery and I’ll be getting some before and after pictures up soonish.
